Blogmas Day 5, Not Quite There Yet

Our little wild child rolling around in the leaves…which there are plenty.

I realized when making this post that it does take me a bit of time to get me into the holiday spirit. It’s not exclusively just a “this year” thing. Tomorrow I’ll spruce up the little store at the shop and Wednesday we’ll hopefully get our tree. The neighborhood has certainly got in the mood so it should kick in pretty soon for me.

As I was packing up an order this weekend, the lighting on my desk was just so pretty and really brought out the color of this yew darning egg. I had to snap a pic. Yew has become one of my favorite woods for fiber tools. It’s so dense and solid and polishes up like a dream. All of the color variations of this particular wood are so pretty as well. I can go on and on about yew. I have yet to meet a piece that I did not like (lol).

By the way, all the darning eggs and kits come with a tiny bundle of hand spun yarn of various wools. It’s enough to get you started to repair a patch or two. The thought that people are out in the world repairing their well loved items is a comforting one.
