I really didn’t do much towards the list except start on a few teddies, work on that backpack and get a few stitches in Hito’s sweater in while on the way to the farmer’s market. I made the mistake of going through my yarn stash and spotted some sock yarns that I had forgotten about. Two skeins of Steinbeck Woole Strapaz caught my attention and I then felt the need to make a pair of socks. I’m not sure why other then the thought of just using the yarn up. It’s been in my stash for at least eight years. Also it’s superwash and the colorway isn’t really my thing at the moment (pinks, grays and blues). I’m not sure why I even bought it but I figured at the very least I would use it up and get some comfy socks out of it (kind of on the heavier side in the way that sock yarns go). Spotting the recommended gauge and I looked up some patterns on Ravelry. I found one pattern that I liked called “Mystery Sock 09” by ThroughtheLoop that I liked(photo from ThroughtheLoop for non ravelry folks… yeah mine are so not going to look like this… mine are striped and UG-LY). I got my 1s out, plopped my rear under the kotatsu, swatched and proceeded to knit while watching old Sherlock Homes and Mr Wong mysteries. I’m almost finished the first sock and half way through the foot area. Seriously, when I said that I wanted to relax this weekend I really meant it. I do feel a little bit guilty, though, so I’ll most likely do all of my house work and cooking tomorrow… while squeezing in the rest of the first sock. I promise pictures this week.
